When you give to the Ethel Precht Hope Breast Cancer Walk of WCCH, your support stays right here in Southwest Louisiana—benefiting breast cancer patients and survivors in Calcasieu and Cameron parishes.

In 2024 alone, the event raised over $115,000 and directly provided more than $72,000 in financial assistance to 85 local individuals facing breast cancer. These funds helped cover mammograms, genetic testing, lymphedema sleeves, specialized garments and more—removing real barriers to care and comfort.

This isn’t just a walk. It’s a legacy of hope and a lifeline for our neighbors. Backed by the WCCH Foundation and inspired by Ethel Precht’s vision, we ensure 100% of proceeds support local care—never leaving our community.

Celebrating Over 20 Years of Compassion in Action

Over two decades ago, Ethel Precht had a vision: to create a local walk event that would raise funds and provide vital financial support to individuals in Calcasieu and Cameron parishes undergoing breast cancer treatment. This vision, fueled by Ethel’s unwavering passion, has transformed the annual breast cancer walk into one of the most significant community events dedicated to breast cancer awareness.

Ethel started a breast cancer walk in 2004 to assist local breast cancer survivors in Cameron and Calcasieu Parishes. Thanks to tremendous local support, in 2008, she started a non profit organization named The Ethel Precht HOPE Breast Cancer Foundation, Incorporated. The impact of having breast cancer at age 50 and surviving it changed her life and our community forever.

The Foundation was formed in 2008 with the sole mission of providing 100% of proceeds directly to individuals in the Calcasieu and Cameron Parishes who are going through breast cancer treatment.

Our Mission

The WCCH Foundation is honored to carry out Ethel’s vision and legacy through the Ethel Precht Hope Breast Cancer Walk of WCCH. Funds raised will provide financial assistance and support to breast cancer patients and survivors in the parishes of Calcasieu and Cameron, in the form of:

– Medical expense coverage (including mammograms and genetic testing)
– Bras and special wear support garments
– Lymphedema sleeves
– Prostheses

We’ve seen firsthand the positive impact the Ethel Precht Hope Breast Cancer Foundation has made in the lives of breast cancer patients and survivors here in Southwest Louisiana and we will continue to meet the needs of local breast cancer patients and survivors in our community.

PINK CRUSADE BREAST CANCER SUPPORT GROUP

The WCCH Pink Crusade Breast Cancer Support Group meets on the second Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. in the WCCH Board Room. Attendees will be provided with answers to common questions surrounding breast cancer and will receive support through every aspect of their disease.
